Swimming Suspended in Marsa Alam After Shark Attack

The Ministry of Environment has announced an immediate closure of the northern Marsa Alam pier area following a shark attack that resulted in one fatality and one injury. The attack occurred in deep waters beyond the designated swimming zones.

Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, has raised the state of readiness and continuous monitoring across the Red Sea protectorates as investigations begin. An urgent committee has been formed, working closely with the Red Sea Governorate and other relevant authorities, to determine the causes of the incident and prevent any further danger.

The area will be closed for two days starting Monday, December 30th, with a complete ban on swimming near the piers.
