Three Classic Egyptian Films to Be Restored & Screened at CIFF
The 44th edition of CIFF will feature three newly-restored classic Egyptian films at its annual ‘CIFF Classics’ programme.
With Cairo International Film Festival’s 44th edition approaching, the festival will be a hub for Egypt’s emerging filmmakers. And while it spotlights the creators of the present, the festival will also highlight historic milestones in Egyptian cinema. In that spirit, the festival will screen three newly-restored classic Egyptian films for its annual ‘CIFF Classics’ programme.
The programme will feature ‘The Choice’ (1970) by legendary director Youssef Chahine, starring Souad Hosni and co-scripted by prestigious author Naguib Mahfouz. Renowned war film ‘Oghneyet Ala El Mamar’ (1972) - directed by Ali Abd El Khalek and starring Mahmoud Yassin - will also make an appearance, alongside Tawfik Saleh’s ‘Yawmeyat Na’eb F El Aryaf’ (1969) starring Rawya Ashour and Ahmed Abdelhalim.
The 44th edition of CIFF will run from November 13th of November until November 22nd.
