UAE Hosts Workshop on Unified GCC Strategy to Combat Drugs
GCC leaders came together in Abu Dhabi to strengthen regional drug control strategies for the future.
A four-day workshop on the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Strategy for Combating Drugs (2025-2028), organized by the UAE Ministry of Interior, is currently taking place in Abu Dhabi. Running until September 19th, the conference brings together representatives from GCC countries, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and other key stakeholders to address regional drug control strategies.
This collaborative effort between the GCC General Secretariat and the UNODC seeks to enhance international cooperation and develop a unified approach to combating drug-related issues in the region. The discussions are expected to result in practical solutions that will strengthen regional cooperation and effectively combat drug trafficking.
The workshop is focused on addressing critical issues such as drug smuggling, which poses a serious threat to public health, social security, economic stability, and political stability across the GCC.
