UAE Pledges AED 220 Million to Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation
The pledge will also go towards a new medical complex in Cairo in honour of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid.
The government of the UAE has pledged around AED 220 million to support the expansion of Egypt’s Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation, including a new medical complex of the Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Centre in Cairo which will be named in honour of the UAE’s Vice President and the Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid.
The increase in the centre’s capacity will allow for an additional 120,000 outpatients and 12,000 surgeries annually, serving a total of around 132,000 patients a year.
The complex, due to open on October 6th, 2024, will span 37 acres and feature 300 beds and 36 outpatient clinics, and will offer free cardiovascular services to patients from the region.
The Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation was launched in 2008 by celebrated Egyptian cardiovascular surgeon Sir Magdi Yacoub to provide medical treatment for the less fortunate.
