UAE Unemployment Insurance Scheme Reaches 90% Enrolment
More than AED 350 million has been paid in compensation since the scheme began in 2024.
Enrolment in the UAE’s Unemployment Insurance Scheme has reached 90% of the targeted workforce by the end of 2025, according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
The ministry stated that more than AED 350 million has been paid in compensation to employees who lost their jobs since the system came into effect in early 2024.
The scheme provides temporary financial support for up to three months to insured workers who lose their jobs for reasons other than resignation or disciplinary action. It is intended to provide income stability while individuals seek new employment, without imposing financial obligations on employers.
Eligible employees may receive up to 60% of their average basic salary over the six months preceding unemployment. Monthly compensation is capped at AED 10,000 for Category 1 and AED 20,000 for Category 2, for a maximum of three months per claim. Total compensation throughout a worker’s career in the UAE cannot exceed 12 months.
To qualify, employees must have been subscribed to the scheme for at least 12 consecutive months. Claims must be submitted within 30 days of unemployment through official channels, including the ILOE website, smart application, call centre or other approved platforms.
Registration is completed through the official ILOE platform, where employees enter their Emirates ID details, confirm a registered mobile number and choose a subscription plan, with payments available on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual basis.
