UAE Waives Overstay Fines for Travellers Affected by Flight Suspension

The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security announced that individuals unable to travel due to exceptional circumstances affecting the region will be exempt from fines for delayed departures. The decision follows airspace closures and the temporary suspension of several flights.

The authority said the exemption applies to visitors holding visit or tourist visas, individuals with exit permits, and residents who had cancelled their residency permits in preparation for departure but were unable to leave the country.

The waiver covers fines incurred on or after February 28, 2026. Officials said the move ensures affected individuals can regularise their status without financial burden.
