Mo Salah’s Record-Breaking Liverpool Legacy in Numbers
From a record-breaking debut season to Premier League glory, Mohamed Salah’s time at Liverpool reshaped the club’s modern era.
Mohamed Salah, arguably Egypt’s greatest footballing export, announced on Tuesday that he will leave Liverpool at the end of this Premier League season. In a heartfelt video posted to his Instagram, Salah bid an emotional farewell to the club and the fans, saying that the team and the city left a massive impact on his life.
"Leaving is never easy, you gave me the best time of my life, I will always be one of you," Salah said. "This club will always be my home, to me and my family... because of all of you, I will never walk alone."
Lovingly nicknamed “The Egyptian King” by fans at Anfield, Salah broke numerous records while wearing Liverpool’s colours. He became the fastest player to score 50 goals for the club, holds the record for most Premier League goals in a 38-game season and is the top-scoring African player in league history, having scored over 250 goals for Liverpool.
Off the pitch, Salah became a global icon and a widely-recognised philanthropist. He was named to Time Magazine's 100 most influential people in 2019 and has donated extensively to health-related causes around the world. According to a Stanford study, his presence at Liverpool contributed to a positive image of Muslims in the UK.

August 12, 2017 — First goal for Liverpool
Mohamed Salah scored his first goal for the Reds in an away game against Watford, during his debut for the club in the Premier League.
March 17, 2018 — Quadruple goal scorer
In a 5-0 drubbing of Watford, the Egyptian King became the first Liverpool player to net four goals since Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez, who achieved the same feat five years earlier in December of 2013.
April 22, 2018 — PFA Player of the Year
Salah was awarded the PFA Players' Player of the Year award and was named in the PFA Team of the Year for the Premier League, capping off a record-breaking individual campaign in his debut season at Anfield.
April 24, 2018 — Champions League history maker
Two days after winning the PFA award, Salah scored a brace in a 5–2 Champions League semi-final first-leg win over former club Roma. In doing so, he became the first African player and the first Liverpool player to score 10 goals in a single Champions League campaign. His double also took him to 43 goals for the season across all competitions, surpassing Roger Hunt’s tally of 42 and making him Liverpool’s second-highest goalscorer in a single season, behind Ian Rush.
May 13, 2018 — Goals galore
On the final day of the 2017/2018 Premier League season, Salah scored the opening goal against Brighton in what would eventually become a 4-0 win. That goal took his season total to 32, breaking the tied-record previously held by Alan Shearer in the 1995/1996 campaign, Cristiano Ronaldo in the 2007/2008 campaign, and former fellow-Red Luis Suarez in the 2013/2014 season. Salah claimed the Golden Boot that season as the league’s top scorer.
January 19, 2019 — Fastest to 50 Premier League goals for Liverpool
Salah scored a brace in a 4–3 win over Crystal Palace to reach 50 Premier League goals in just 72 appearances. In doing so, he became the joint-fourth fastest player to reach the milestone, alongside Fernando Torres, and behind only Andy Cole, Alan Shearer and Ruud van Nistelrooy.
June 1, 2019 — UEFA Champions League winner
Salah scored from the penalty spot inside the opening two minutes of the Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur, helping Liverpool secure a 2–0 victory and lift their sixth European Cup.
August 14, 2019 — UEFA Super Cup winner
Liverpool defeated Chelsea on penalties in Istanbul, with Salah converting his spot kick in the shootout as the Reds lifted the UEFA Super Cup.
December 21, 2019 — FIFA Club World Cup winner
Salah played a key role as Liverpool defeated Flamengo 1–0 after extra time in Qatar to win the FIFA Club World Cup for the first time in club history.
January 19, 2020 — Solo stunner vs Manchester United
Salah scored his first goal in five encounters against rivals Manchester United, finishing off a run that started from inside his own half in Liverpool’s 2–0 home win in the Premier League. The goal sealed the victory and capped a defining moment in Liverpool’s eventual title-winning season.
June 25, 2020 — Premier League champion
Liverpool secured their first league title in 30 years, with Salah finishing the campaign as one of the club’s top scorers and becoming the first Egyptian to win the Premier League.
October 19, 2021 — Liverpool’s Champions League record scorer
Salah became the first player in Liverpool history to score in nine consecutive games after netting twice in a 3–2 win away to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. His second goal, his 31st in the competition, saw him surpass Steven Gerrard to become Liverpool’s all-time top scorer in the Champions League.
May 14, 2022 — FA Cup winner
Salah helped Liverpool lift the FA Cup after a penalty shootout victory over Chelsea at Wembley, completing a domestic cup double for the Reds.
July 30, 2022 — FA Community Shield winner
Salah scored from the penalty spot in Liverpool’s 3–1 win over Manchester City to lift the FA Community Shield at the King Power Stadium.
February 25, 2024 — League Cup winner
Liverpool defeated Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley, with Salah adding a second League Cup title to his collection with the club.
August 17, 2024 — Opening day record breaker
Salah broke the record for the most goals scored on opening day in Premier League history after netting in a 2–0 win over newly-promoted Ipswich Town.
May 2025 — Second Premier League title
Salah helped Liverpool secure their second Premier League title, becoming one of the club’s most decorated players of the modern era.
August 15, 2025 — Extends opening day dominance
Salah scored a stoppage-time goal in Liverpool's 4–2 win over Bournemouth, bringing his total to a record 10 Premier League opening-day goals across different seasons.
November 1, 2025 — 250 goals for Liverpool
Mohamed Salah scored his 250th goal for Liverpool in all competitions during a 2–0 win against Aston Villa. In doing so, he became only the third player in Liverpool history to reach the 250-goal milestone.
March 18, 2026
Salah became the first African player to score 50 Champions League goals during Liverpool’s Round of 16 second leg victory over Galatasary.
