Verdi's Rigoletto Hits the High Note at Cairo Opera House
Rigoletto was first introduced to Egyptian audiences in 1869 to celebrate the historic opening of the Suez Canal.
Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi’s iconic opera Rigoletto will be performed at the Cairo Opera House from January 11th until January 13th, as led by maestro Mohamed Saeed Basha's orchestra and the Cairo Opera House’s ballet and chorus troupes.
Rigoletto was first introduced to Egyptian audiences in 1869 to celebrate the historic opening of the Suez Canal at the inauguration of the Khedivial Opera House. The opera was composed by Verdi in 40 days, and was accompanied by a tragic talk of forbidden love and a dark curse. The performance will start at 8 PM at the Cairo Opera House Main Hall.
