‘Voy! Voy! Voy!’ Sweeps Awards at Split Mediterranean Film Festival

Egyptian film ‘Voy! Voy! Voy!’ has won both the Jury Award for Best Feature Film and the Audience Award for Best Film at Croatia's prestigious Split Mediterranean Film Festival. Directed and written by Omar Halal, this achievement marks a rare double win, celebrated for bridging the tastes of both jury members and audiences alike.

Omar Halal, expressing his joy on Facebook, emphasised the film's ability to resonate universally, transcending typical cinematic norms and garnering widespread acclaim.

Based on a true story of a security guard who fakes a disability to join a blind football team in order to travel to Europe, ‘Voy! Voy! Voy!’ has been on a winning streak, having previously been honoured by the Egyptian Film Critics Association and receiving enthusiastic receptions at renowned festivals at Rotterdam and Marrakech. The film has topped box office charts and earned praise from critics across the MENA region.

Produced by Film Clinic in collaboration with Vox Studios and Image Nation Abu Dhabi, the film’s cast includes the likes of Mohamed Farrag, Passant Shawky, Nelly Karim and Bayoumi Fouad. ‘Voy! Voy! Voy!’ will soon represent Egypt in the upcoming Oscars for Best International Film.
