Workplace Discrimination Can Now Be Fined at EGP 20,000
Discrimination based on gender, religion, race, social class, or ability is now punishable through Egypt’s new labour law.
Sep 20, 2022

A new labour law aims to regulate workplace dynamics and promote healthier work environments by enforcing a EGP 20,000 fine. The law will negate unpaid or unfairly compensated workers, and criminalize discrimination based on gender, religion, race, ability, social class, geographical origin, and political affiliation. The fines will also vary depending on the degree of offence, the number of workers violated, and the frequency of the behaviour.
