You Can Now See Dubai’s Flying Taxis at the Museum of the Future

An aerial taxi prototype has been put on display at the Museum of the Future. The electric-powered aircraft, developed by Joby Aviation in partnership with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), is part of the emirate’s broader strategy to integrate self-driving and sustainable transport solutions.

The aerial taxi, now on display on the museum’s ‘Tomorrow, Today’ floor, boasts vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capabilities, a range of 161 kilometres, and a top speed of 322 km/h. It is designed to carry four passengers and a pilot, offering an efficient alternative to road travel.

Set to launch in 2026, the aerial taxi service will initially connect key locations such as Dubai International Airport, Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina, and Palm Jumeirah.

To accommodate this futuristic transport mode, a dedicated vertiport is being developed, capable of handling 42,000 landings annually and serving up to 170,000 passengers. Managed by Joby Aviation and Skyports Infrastructure, the facility will integrate seamlessly with Dubai’s broader transport network.

With zero emissions and a promise to cut commute times dramatically, the aerial taxi is poised to redefine urban mobility. Visitors to the Museum of the Future can now experience this innovation up close before it takes flight across the city.
