Zayed Higher Organisation Opens Centre to Support Injured Palestinians

The Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO) has inaugurated a state-of-the-art centre in collaboration with Emirates Humanitarian City, dedicated to assessing, supporting, and rehabilitating injured Palestinians. This initiative forms part of a broader effort to treat 1,000 injured Palestinians and 1,000 cancer patients.

Located at Emirates Humanitarian City, the specialised centre offers a wide array of services aimed at improving the quality of life for People of Determination and war-injured individuals. Its facilities include dedicated spaces for medical and psychological assessments, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and auditory rehabilitation, and tailored educational programs for individuals of all ages. The centre is also equipped with administrative and technical support offices to ensure the seamless delivery of these vital services.

To date, ZHO specialists have assessed 123 cases of People of Determination and continue to provide over 80 therapy sessions weekly. The organisation has addressed the needs of 66 individuals with physical disabilities, supplied 11 hearing aids, and provided extensive rehabilitation services, including prosthetic fittings and training. These initiatives are designed to empower recipients to regain independence and integrate more effectively into society.

In collaboration with Emirates Humanitarian City, ZHO has also expanded its educational programs. This includes establishing auditory rehabilitation classes through Ibn Sina School for Deaf Education, training students with visual impairments in Braille for school integration, and creating customised educational services for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

The centre’s efforts extend beyond therapy to include the provision of essential assistive devices such as prosthetic limbs, wheelchairs, braces, and hearing aids. Physical therapy and moral support are integral components of the rehabilitation process, ensuring recipients adapt to daily life with their new aids.
