Zohr-9 Well Adds 70 Million Cubic Feet Per Day to Gas Output
The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources also announced the start of drilling for the exploratory Denise W-1X well off the coast of Port Said.
The Zohr-9 well, part of Egypt’s offshore Zohr gas field, has added around 70 million cubic feet per day of natural gas to national production, according to the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
Drilled by the Saipem 10000 drillship, the well was completed on schedule as part of the Zohr field’s development plan. The project builds on previous expansions, including the Zohr-6 well, and contributes to Egypt’s ongoing efforts to boost output and support energy self-sufficiency.
The ministry also announced the start of drilling for the exploratory Denise W-1X well off the coast of Port Said, targeting a depth of more than 4,200 metres in waters around 98 metres deep.
