New Cairo's Sauce Is Egypt's First Asian-American Diner

From katsu burgers to sesame-drenched noodles with fries on the side, Sauce in New Cairo redefines the diner - with toppings labeled wet, dry, and always just a little unhinged.

New Cairo's Sauce Is Egypt's First Asian-American Diner

In a stunning development for people who thought “Asian-American diner” meant fortune cookies and milkshakes, Sauce in New Cairo has arrived to ruin everything you thought you knew about sauce, toppings, and the basic laws of noodle physics.

Located somewhere between your dreams of a katsu burger and your fears of a sesame-oil milkshake, Sauce bills itself as an “Asian-American diner” - which appears to translate roughly to: “yes, there are noodles, and yes, they can come with fries.”

But that’s not all. The toppings - sorry, “wet” and “dry” options only. Want your karaage drenched in hot honey? That’s a wet one. Need some crispy shallots on your sando? Dry. Still confused? So is everyone else. But we’re too busy chewing to care.

Also of note: the tables are coloured, the branding is bold, and there’s probably a sriracha aioli hiding under something at all times. Welcome to the future. Bring napkins.
