Mahgoub Showcases History of Ceramics at Cairo Design Week

Cairo Design Week is taking over the capital, putting the spotlight on the boundless creativity of Egypt's many prominent design industries at three of Cairo's heritage zones, namely Heliopolis, Downtown Cairo and Cairo Citadel. Amidst the immersive exhibitions that bring together local and international designers and artists from all disciplines, Mahgoub - Egypt's leading company for ceramics, porcelain and bathrooms since 1948 - is giving onlookers a fresh perspective on interior design through their new partnership with Cairo Design Week.

With exhibitions at Cairo Citadel's Yusuf Well and Heliopolis's Al Cayan Building, Mahgoub has set up a number of pavilions that showcase the essential elements that turn the bathroom from a mere W.C. to a refuge within your home. Each pavilion focuses on the five human senses that Mahgoub takes into account whenever they design their products, right down to the individual tiles that make up your bathroom floor.

The Shower Pavillion for example recreates the sounds and sensation of a relaxing shower in a spa-like environment, with scents of lavender and eucalyptus encompassing the space, and a special giveaway with local aromatherapy brand areej.

The Faucet Pavillion meanwhile puts the focus on the very knobs we use to control the flow of our bathroom routines. Accompanied by a nostalgic vanilla scent and the sound of rushing water, the pavilion will give away customised soap dispensers and soap rests.

Finally, the Sink Pavillion places you within a bar-like atmosphere, allowing you to sit on a stool while upside bowls hang from the ceiling. Inundated with the minty scent that we associate with freshness, the pavilion will hold a giveaway of coasters made from Mahgoub's mosaic tiles.

Before they enter the pavilions, each guest will be given a special Towel Tote Bag, which they can fill with the gifts they receive in Mahgoub's giveaways. The exhibitions reflect Mahgoub's long 70-year history in Egypt, during which they've become a major presence by trading and importing ceramic, porcelain and sanitary ware across four of their showrooms in Greater Cairo.

With a wealth of exhibitions, panels and talks, Cairo Design Week is being held from February 23rd to March 2nd. Make sure to keep your eyes on SceneHome for all the latest updates from this prestigious design convention.
