Dubai’s nol Card Expands Beyond Transit to Parking, Shopping & Dining
Initially designed for public transport use, the card is set to become a multipurpose payment tool for services including parking, shopping, dining, and education.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed new agreements with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), Parkin PJSC, and PayPal to expand the functionality of Dubai’s nol card. Initially designed for public transport use, the card is set to become a multipurpose payment tool for services including parking, shopping, dining, and education.
Under the collaboration with KHDA, the RTA will launch a new variant called the “Study in Dubai – nol ISIC”, which will function as both a student ID and payment card. The aim is to provide students in higher education with access to discounts, lifestyle perks, and seamless transactions across campus and beyond.
With Parkin, the move introduces direct nol-based payment for parking services, enabling interoperability between the public transit card system and parking infrastructure. The partnership is intended to simplify urban mobility and reduce dependence on cash for motorists.
The RTA’s tie-up with PayPal focuses on enhancing secure digital payment flows, making it easier to top up nol balances and facilitating merchant adoption of nol-based transactions.
