Turning a New Page on Literacy With 'Egypt Collects a Million Books'
The initiative hopes to instil a love of reading in young people by collecting - you guessed it - one million books over nine months from all over Egypt.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports is launching a new initiative with regional book platform iRead, titled ‘Egypt Collects a Million Books’.
The initiative hopes to instil a love of reading in young people by collecting - you guessed it - one million books over nine months from all over Egypt. These books will then be sorted and redistributed to universities, schools and youth centres. The project will also recycle unused books and distribute them for free.
By ensuring unfettered access to these books throughout the nation, the initiative hopes to encourage young people to engage in literature and become more cognizant of their role in global culture.
