Saudi University Launches Dual-Degree Engineering & Medicine Programme

King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, in partnership with King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, is introducing a dual-degree programme that merges Biomedical Engineering with Medicine and Surgery, representing the first such integrated academic pathway in the Middle East.

The programme aims to equip graduates with both technical and clinical skills, preparing them for careers where engineering solutions and medical practice intersect. The eight-year track gives students dual admission at both universities: four years at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals to earn a bachelor’s in biomedical engineering, followed by four years at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences for a bachelor’s in medicine and surgery. Admission requirements, duration, and full curriculum details are expected to be released shortly.

This initiative forms part of Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to develop advanced health and technology education, and respond to rising demand for interdisciplinary expertise across the biomedical and healthcare sectors.
