Energy Prices in Egypt to Remain Unchanged Through 2026
Officials said fuel and electricity prices will stay fixed following earlier increases tied to global market pressures.
Energy prices in Egypt will remain unchanged through the end of 2026, according to Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Rania Al Mashat during a meeting organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in Cairo.
The freeze follows a series of increases introduced earlier this year amid rising global oil prices and shipping costs linked to regional instability. In March, domestic prices for several petroleum products and vehicle natural gas were raised, while the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy increased electricity tariffs for commercial users and high-consumption households.
During the meeting, Rania Al Mashat also said plans are underway to list 10 state-linked companies on the stock exchange, including a bank and two military-owned companies, as part of efforts to expand private sector participation and deepen capital market activity.
She added that discussions are continuing with the International Monetary Fund on budget management, asset governance, and state divestment plans through the end of the fiscal year in June.
An updated State Ownership Policy Document outlining the government’s privatisation approach is expected by late June, followed by an implementation plan covering timelines, sectors, and targeted companies for divestment.
