One Million Patients Received State-Funded Treatment in 2026
Approvals totalled EGP 8.5 billion and reached 922,675 citizens across medical specialties.
More than 1 million state-funded treatment approvals were issued during the first quarter of 2026, with a total value of EGP 8.5 billion, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.
The approvals totalled 1,044,845 and benefited 922,675 people across public healthcare facilities nationwide.
The coverage included a wide range of medical specialties, spanning haematology, spinal surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, ear, nose and throat, internal medicine, general surgery, dermatology, neurology, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, immunology, urology, vascular surgery, interventional radiology, oncology, hepatology, maxillofacial surgery, endocrinology, rehabilitation, and dialysis.
The ministry stated that the programme is designed to support access to treatment for eligible cases through state funding channels, particularly for patients requiring specialised care.
Digital tools were also expanded to manage urgent cases, with 1,643 critical cases assessed remotely via video consultations. This approach enabled clinical decisions to be made without requiring patients to travel.
In parallel, 71,900 people with disabilities underwent medical assessments across 551 committees nationwide as part of the Integrated Services Card programme.
Additional medical evaluations were carried out for 76,406 applicants to the Takaful and Karama social support programme. A further 7,729 individuals were assessed to determine eligibility for tax- and customs-exempt vehicles, reflecting the use of medical evaluations across multiple public service programmes.
