Orascom Adds USD 10 Million to Expand Giza Pyramids Visitor Facilities

Orascom Pyramids Entertainment, owned by Naguib Sawiris, is investing an additional USD 10 million to expand visitor facilities at the Giza Plateau, adding new transport infrastructure and an outdoor events venue as part of its ongoing redevelopment of the site.

According to the company, the latest investment will fund a fleet of 30 multi-stop electric tour buses and the construction of a lightweight steel outdoor concert venue capable of hosting up to 15,000 people. Chief Executive Officer Amr Gazzarin said the new funding increases the company's total investment in Egypt's archaeological sites by around one-third.

Orascom Pyramids Entertainment has held a 10-year concession to develop the visitor experience at the Giza Pyramids since launching a USD 30 million redevelopment programme in spring 2025. Under the agreement, the government continues to receive all ticket revenue from the archaeological site, while the company generates income through venue rentals for events, VIP tours, sponsorship agreements, retail leases and its restaurants on the plateau.

The company said it aims to generate up to LE 200 million (approximately USD 4.1 million) in revenue during 2026 and expects to reach break-even next year.

The expanded facilities are expected to support a wider programme of international events. Colombian singer Shakira is scheduled to perform at the pyramids in November, following previous concerts by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Black Eyed Peas. The company is also considering hosting additional sporting events following this year's heavyweight boxing event headlined by Oleksandr Usyk.

As part of the transport upgrades, Orascom is evaluating electric buses manufactured by Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Company, which recently partnered with China's FAW Group to produce vehicles locally.
