ADIRA’s EP ‘Floating MSG’ is Dreamy Confessions of Heartbreak
The two-track EP turns post-breakup voicemails into a wholesome sonic journey through ambient textures.
Dubai-based Egyptian vinyl DJ and producer, ADIRA, has been quietly carving out her own lane across the city’s clubbing circuit with her fluid, emotionally-charged, immersive sets, often meshing together threads of deep house, techno and ambient.
Her latest release, Floating MSG, is a two-track musical diary of dreamy ambience, reimagining a brand new way of being vulnerable - one that doesn’t sway to euphoric highs but rather sits in the comfortable silence of longing and heartbreak.
The EP opens with ringing lines that dissolve into layers of hazy atmospheres and filtered, mellow piano synths, shifting subtly between tracks. On 'Floating in Fiction', minor, sombre chords flicker amid ambient sounds, underscoring the bittersweet intimacy of a spoken voicemail. 'Leave a MSG' brightens slightly, with sparkling synths and a meditative groove carried by breezy percussion, offering a gentle reprieve without losing the emotional core.
Instead of a typical cutting-edge dance production, on Floating MSG, ADIRA attempts to showcase that electronic music can be introspective as much as it is dance-oriented, presenting a record of muted musings and lofty intentions that demonstrate her sharp and intricate production style.
