Lab Lobby Launches With Debut EP ‘Tagwina’
The project’s debut EP, Tagwina, showcases LabLobby’s commitment to authentic expression and cultural representation.
LabLobby is a newly launched, Tunisia-based music incubator and record label dedicated to elevating emerging talent across the MENA region. Located in downtown Tunis, LabLobby is a collective of creatives on a mission to champion underrepresented communities and build lasting connections within the music and art scene. With a specific focus on street and hip-hop culture, LabLobby offers programs, residencies and art initiatives that aim to make a meaningful impact on the region’s creative landscape.
The project’s debut EP, Tagwina, showcases LabLobby’s commitment to authentic expression and cultural representation. This compilation features top underground and emerging hip-hop talent from Tunisia, including Jbel!, Brvga, Scar 2002, Haithem DIGO, LIL M4D, THE ODM, Double AK, Rouni, Wingless and Nemo.
The EP addresses pressing societal issues through personal storytelling, highlighting themes of “7ar9a” (illegal migration) and other complex narratives often associated with street culture. Each artist brings their unique voice, layering honest reflections on society atop core rap elements, flowing seamlessly from one track to the next.
Tagwina is both a powerful artistic statement and a promising start for LabLobby, which aims to explore further possibilities for MENA’s music scene.
