MOND Chronicles His Different Sonic Phases on New EP ‘Amen’

Egyptian artist MOND, formerly known as Muhab or Ilmond, embarks on a sonic pilgrimage through the pivotal eras that have shaped his sound in his new EP, Amen. The three-track record captures distinct chapters of his evolving artistry, tracing his path through the realms of electronic, ambient and experimental music.

The opening track, ‘3 AM’, echoes sonic cues from his 2023 track ‘Yazmeely’ with its ominous ambience, blending MOND’s ghostly-like vocals with measured, mellow electronic rhythms. The title track, ‘Amen’, forms the emotional core of the EP, as MOND’s voice merges with the production, functioning less as a lead and more as another layer in the composition. The closing track, ‘ID’, continues this exploration of identity and selfhood through looping textures and subtle sonic shifts, suggesting an ongoing dialogue between consciousness and creative intent.

In just three tracks, Amen captures MOND’s continuing effort to understand his sound and direction, tracing his artistic development, while simultaneously reaffirming his place as one of the promising artists in Egypt’s alternative scene.

في رحلة صوتية لا تتجاوز ثلاث مقطوعات، يستدعي الفنان والمنتج المصري الموند أبرز محطاته الفنية المتغيرة، مقدماً ألبومه القصير الجديد الذي يحمل عنوان “أمين”. يشكل كل من مسارات الألبوم: (3AM - أمين - ID) فصلاً مختلفاً من مسيرته، حيث يغوص في أعماق المراحل الإلكترونية، الأمبيانت والتجريبية التي شكّلت هويته على مر السنين.

منذ اللحظة الأولى، يضعنا تراك 3 AM أمام عالمٍ صوتيٍّ غامض، ينساب بين الهدوء والتوتّر، حيث تتداخل الإيقاعات الإلكترونية مع نغماتٍ خافتة تُشبه الهمس. أمّا المقطوعة الرئيسية “أمين”، فهي تمثّل قلب الألبوم، مساحة تتكشّف فيها شخصية الموند، حيث يبدو صوته أقرب إلى أداة موسيقية أخرى داخل المشهد الصوتي، لا مجرّد وسيلة للتعبير.

ويختتم الألبوم بمقطوعة “ID” التى تُواصل رحلة البحث عن الهوية، من خلال مزيج من الأصوات المتكرّرة والتفاصيل الدقيقة التي تعكس صراعًا داخليًا بين الوعي والذات الفنية.
