Rap of the Week | June 28 - July 5
The playlist features music by some of the most notable rappers in the regional scene, including L’morphine, Tchubi and Muhab.
In this edition of our Rap of The Week playlist, we curate a selection of the best hip-hop releases from the MENA region. The playlist features music by some of the most notable rappers in the regional scene, including iconic Moroccan rapper L’morphine, Tchubi and Muhab.
L’morphine drops his latest album ‘Yakine’, coming two years after his full-length project ‘Gala’. We’ve selected ‘Rooftop’ for our playlist due to its outstanding production, which utilizes unconventional sound selection and song structure, along with L’morphine’s distinct rapping taking centre stage on the track.
Next is the latest collaboration between Egyptian rappers Hala and R3 on the track ‘Ghasb 3any’, produced by ActOne. Hala delivers an outstanding verse on the minimal beat, showcasing her well-crafted bars along with a singing chorus, while R3 comes in to deliver a powerful verse, complementing Hala’s energy in the first half of the track.
Further along the playlist is the latest track by rising star Muhab, ‘Hakeem’, following the release of his last track ‘Intifada’. Muhab showcases consistency in terms of releases while remaining diverse with the production choices. The track features Muhab flowing melodically on a subtle trap beat, courtesy of Said Rdaf. The rapper delivers multiple vocal inflections with a catchy hook and introspective bars.
