Saint Levant Channels Tarab Romance on New Single ‘Sabah El Ward’
'Sabah El Ward' is a warm, unfussy track that feels more indebted to the golden age of Arabic music than anything on a contemporary playlist.
Palestinian pop icon Saint Levant is back with a new single, and this time he's keeping it simple. 'Sabah El Ward' is a warm, unfussy track that feels more indebted to the golden age of Arabic music than anything on a contemporary playlist. Opening with a sax line that immediately sets a nostalgic tone, the guitar-driven verses and a vocal melody that carries the whole tune do the heavy lifting throughout.
Filmed in Amman, the music video is directed by Mohamed Sqalli and Saint Levant himself, with his father Rashid Abdelhamid serving as executive producer; a family energy that comes through in the texture of the whole thing. The video runs on a split-screen format, following Saint Levant and co-star Yasmina Zaytoun through their separate mornings, until their worlds converge.
It's the kind of video where the details matter more than the plot. No grand gestures, just two people moving through an ordinary morning in a city that clearly means something to the artist. The Amman setting feels deliberate rather than decorative, and the low-key production keeps the focus on the song itself, giving off a grounded energy just in time for Eid.
