On this edition of our Shreet Cocktail playlist, we’re bringing you some of the best releases across the MENA region from the past couple of weeks, featuring notable stars like Samar Tarik, Tul8te, 3enba and more.
First off the list is Shobra Elgeneral’s ‘Madloaa’ from his upcoming album ‘City Sky’. The track integrates elements from traditional Zaar with accelerated electronic dance beats, exploring the common feeling of dissatisfaction with life among Egyptian youth. Despite the subject matter, it’s bouncy, fresh and irresistibly danceable.
Next up, we have ‘Cima’ by Sudanese rapper Montiyago featuring Egyptian producer Big Moe. A classic post-heartbreak track, ‘Cima’ paints a somewhat cinematic portrayal of the healing quest one goes on in an attempt to reconcile with their pain from a former relationship. Through introspective lyricism, the track tackles the lingering emotions of longing and regret that follow a breakup from a long-term committed relationship.
Last but not least, we have ‘Hagra Wara2a Ma2s’ by Egyptian singer-songwriter Samar Tarik, a little teaser off of the artist’s forthcoming EP ‘Far2 Taw2eet’, which will mark her first-extenShobra Elgeneral - ‘Madloaa’ Nista - ‘3atma W Keef’ Hoosh - ‘Loop’ Montiyago x Big Moe - ‘Cima’ Samar Tarik - ‘7agara Wara2a M2as’ Pink Seasalt - ‘Moonlight’ Tul8te - ‘Habeeby Leh’ Kenza Blanka - ‘Wahia Baba’ Ft. Flomine x Skn Deep Afifi - ‘Fe Youm Hala2ikt’ ft. Noubi & Zein-Al Arfeen Taffy - ‘Ana Hena’ 3enba - ‘Dad El3alm’ ft. Lil Baba Vargas - ‘6 Stars’ ded release after a series of singles over the past three years. The album features a total of five tracks, through which Samar explores the five stages of grief.
The playlist also features Egyptian rapper-turned-singer Tul8te’s ‘Habibi Leh’ – a 90s pop-inspired track which has been causing a frenzy all over social media lately, along with some fresh post-shaabi releases like ‘3atma W Keef’ by Nista, as well as releases from North Africa like ‘6 Stars’ by Moroccan MC Vargas.
