Mess Market Transforms Fashion Into A Living Archive Of The Mashreq

This weekend, as part of Property of No One’s festival in Amsterdam, the MESS Market transforms fashion into a living archive of the Mashreq. Curated with intention, the pop-up gathers handmade pieces and artisanal design that honour tradition while amplifying the new voices reshaping style across the region.

Set within a multi-disciplinary program of live performances, street food, and community-driven workshops, the market becomes a meeting point of craft and culture, featuring Baba Boys, Alma, Areej, Ape, San Seriffe.

Meet the brands:

Baba Boys

Amsterdam’s Baba Boys fuse Levantine street culture with sly humor, twisting bold Arabic letterforms into a laid-back uniform that reimagines fatherhood, masculinity, and belonging.

Almah

Reworking discarded fabrics from the Egyptian Clothing Bank into rare, one-off pieces, Almah is one of the creative voices fueling Egypt’s circular fashion. Women-led and community-driven, the brand stitches sustainability with empowerment, making fashion both impact-driven and playful.

Areej

Blending ancient Egyptian practices with wellness care, Areej offers home-grown aromatherapy crafted from natural, ethically sourced essential oils.

San Seriffe

Tucked inside Amsterdam’s Red Light District, San Serriffe is part bookshop, part exhibition space, part cult hub dedicated to showcasing artist books and zines. For PoN festival, it brings a special selection exploring themes of movement and migration, memory and place, and the politics of everyday life.
