Abu Dhabi’s First Floating Hotel Drops Anchor at Yas Marina

Abu Dhabi has many luxury hotels, but until now, none that bob gently with the tide. Yas Marina has welcomed its first floating hotel, the Orchid Overnight Superyacht, a five-star vessel that promises the glamour of life at sea.

Permanently docked and operated by Dutch Oriental Megayachts, the 31-room superyacht aims to offer guests the novelty of a nautical escape while remaining reassuringly tethered to land. Prices start at AED 990 per night, a fraction of what it would cost to own a yacht of comparable size — or, for that matter, to fuel one for the weekend.

The rooms are divided with maritime precision: 24 superior cabins (25 square metres, with king or twin beds and private bathrooms), four VIP rooms (30 square metres, ensuite), and three royal suites, each spanning 60 square metres and boasting a living area, sofa bed, and private hot tub. In other words, plenty of space to pretend you are an oligarch, or at least an oligarch’s stylish cousin.

Amenities include 24-hour concierge and housekeeping, smart room automation, and a 360-degree sun deck, where guests can toast the sunset. From October, the experience will expand to include sundowner and dinner cruises, for those who like their cocktails served with a side of motion.

Dining is suitably decadent, with curated menus by on-board chefs, 24-hour room service, and flexible packages ranging from bed-and-breakfast to full board. The yacht is also available for private hire, whether for weddings, corporate retreats, or full buyouts.

Its location at Yas Marina is no coincidence. The marina’s prime positioning between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and proximity to Zayed International Airport, make it a natural choice for a project courting both regional visitors and international arrivals.
