Ironman 70.3 World Championship is Coming to Egypt's Red Sea
The IRONMAN 70.3 is coming to Sahl Hasheesh on November 19th, along with countless challengers eager to participate in its Egyptian debut.
You can conquer the sea. You can conquer the land. You can even conquer the machines. But only by doing all three could you truly call yourself an Ironman. The global triathlon series that challenges all comers to swim, bike and then run faster than everyone else is an opportunity to prove that you've got the body of a cyborg and the will of a superhero - and it's about to come to Egypt for the first time.
On November 19th, the IRONMAN 70.3 is coming to Sahl Hasheesh, along with an entire crowd of challengers who will swim for 1.9 km in the Red Sea waters of Sahl Hasheesh Bay, cycle through a 90 km loop through the desert (and a good chunk of Hurghada!), before dropping your bike back at Sahl Hasheesh in order to run a full 21.1 km through the city. That's... a lot of kilometres. And a lot of hours too - most Ironman competitions take an average of 12 hours and 35 minutes to compete. Once you're in, you're IN.
Organised in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, this year's competition will offer qualifying spots for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships in 2022. Although registrations for the IRONMAN 70.3 are closed, you could still cheer the racers on from the sidelines. With how tough the competition is going to be, we fancy they're going to need it.
