Jumeirah Launches Island Stay in Tanzania, Safari in South Africa
Jumeirah Thanda Island offers an exclusive-use retreat on a pristine tropical isle, while Jumeirah Thanda Safari will be located in a private Big Five reserve.
Dubai-based hospitality leader Jumeirah is set to make its African debut with two luxury offerings—Jumeirah Thanda Island in Tanzania and Jumeirah Thanda Safari in South Africa, in collaboration with the Thanda Group.
Located within Tanzania’s Shungimbili Island Marine Reserve, Jumeirah Thanda Island offers an exclusive-use retreat on a pristine tropical isle. Accessible by helicopter or speedboat, this five-hectare paradise features a grand villa with five suites, Swahili-style bandas, a private chef, and bespoke adventures like swimming with whale sharks and coral reef diving.
In South Africa, Jumeirah Thanda Safari sits amidst 16,500 hectares of a private Big Five reserve in KwaZulu Natal. Guests will experience luxurious residences, game drives, and cultural programs, with plans for a tented camp and new lodge by 2027. Conservation remains central, supporting initiatives like anti-poaching projects and rhino conservation.
Bookings for both experiences open this month.
