Alexandria Mediterranean Film Festival to Honour Actor Tewfik El Dekn
Taking place from October 3rd to the 8th, the film festival will mark the late actor’s centenary.
The Alexandria Mediterranean Film Festival announced that it will honour the late actor Tewfik El Dekn, in recognition of his centenary.
Born on May 3rd, 1923, Tewfik El Dekn was famous for his portrayals of outlaws and rebellious characters, imbuing his performances with a unique sense of levity in such films as ‘Ibn Hamido’, ‘Darb al-Mahabiel’, ‘The Secret of the Hidden Cap’, ‘The Girl of the Hatta’ and ‘Abdou Al-Hamouli’, amongst others. The actor passed away on November 26th, 1988 after a highly successful career.
The festival will hold a special ceremony, which will be attended by Tewfik El Dekn’s son, Madi El Dekn. Madi El Dekn will receive the prestigious shield of the Egyptian Association of Film Writers and Critics.
The festival will be held from October 3rd to the 8th, and will showcase the works of filmmakers from Mediterranean nations across Africa, Asia and Europe.
