Construction of El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant to Begin July 2022
Recently, South Korea's Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) company has been selected as a single-source supplier of turbine islands for the plant, alongside four reactors that will be built by Russia.
Described as a project that is as significant and transformative as the Aswan High Dam, the construction of Egypt's El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant is expected to begin in July 2022. To be built in the Matrouh governorate along the coastlines of the Mediterranean Sea, the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant will be the first time Egypt harnesses nuclear power as an energy source.

Egypt and Russia initially signed an agreement to construct the power plant in November 2015, the plans for which went as far back as the 1970s when the site was selected. The total cost of construction is USD 30 billion.
