The King Faisal Mosque in Conakry, the capital of Guinea, has reopened its doors after undergoing extensive renovations, boosted by a USD 5 million contribution from Saudi Arabia.
The mosque's official reopening was marked by a Friday sermon and prayers led by Sheikh Abdullah Al-Juhani, the imam of Makkah's Grand Mosque, which drew a large number of worshippers.
The King Faisal Mosque, inaugurated in 1982 by the late Prince Saud Al-Faisal, is one of the largest mosques in Africa, capable of accommodating over 12,000 worshippers.
