Minimum Wage for Private Sector in Egypt Raised to EGP 7,000

The National Council for Wages has announced that, effective March 1st, 2025, the minimum wage for private sector employees will be raised to EGP 7,000 per month. The decision was reached during a meeting chaired by Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning and Economic Development and International Cooperation.

In addition to the wage increase, the council has set the annual increment for private sector employees at a minimum of 3% of their insurance contribution wage, with a monthly minimum of EGP 250. Additionally, a minimum wage for part-time and temporary workers has also been established for the first time, ensuring they earn no less than EGP 28 per hour, in accordance with the Labour Law.

This is the first increase in minimum wage since April 2024, in which the private sector minimum wage was raised to EGP 6000 up from EGP 3500.
