New Metro Cars to Come with Security Cameras & Wheelchair Space

Cairo’s third metro line is about to receive a new set of cars, which are currently being manufactured to include air conditioning, LCD screens for trip information, security cameras and spaces especially reserved for wheelchairs.

Although these cars are made with help from South Korean company Hyundai Rotem, they are locally produced by the Ministry of Transportation. The ministry currently has the equipment to create two of these vehicles, with 30 more to be made over an eight-year period at a cost of EGP 640 million.
