BIFA, the British Independent Film Awards organisation, has nominated Amir El Masry for the Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in the 2023 British drama film, ‘In Camera’. This film, directed by Naqqash Khalid in his debut, features Nabhaan Rizwan, Amir El-Masry, and Rory Fleck Byrne. ‘In Camera’ had its world premiere at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and delves into the societal impact of social media.
Upon learning of his nomination, Amir El Masry shared his sentiments on his official social media accounts, expressing, "It's a joyful moment, but given the events happening in the world, I feel quite heavy."
The Egyptian-British actor initially gained global recognition for his role in 'Limbo' (2020), winning a Scottish BAFTA and earning a British Independent Film Award nomination. He was also recognised as a 2020 BAFTA ‘Breakthrough Brit’ and acknowledged as a 2021 Screen International ‘Star of Tomorrow’.
