Art D’Égypte Announces Lineup for the 6th Edition of ‘Forever is Now’

For years, Art D’Égypte’s ‘Forever is Now’ exhibition has turned the Pyramids into a meeting point between past and present, inviting artists and audiences from around the world to reconsider ancient history through a contemporary lens. This year, that tradition continues with a female-artist-led edition bringing together practices from France, the US, China, Britain, Jamaica, and Egypt.

At a press conference at The Diplomatic Club attended by Ambassador Wael El-Naggar, the Assistant Foreign Minister for Cultural Relations, Art D’Égypte founder Nadine Abdel Ghaffar announced this year’s ‘Forever is Now’ lineup: Jiang Qiong Er, Reham Abo Elazm, Rochelle-Webster Nembhard, Charlotte Colbert, Raphaele Shirley, Seçkin Pirim, Bernar Venet, and Geoffroy Pithon.

“This edition is especially important to us because for the first time there is now a cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Culture and Art D’Égypte,” said Abdel Ghaffar. “It is an extension of our vision that art exhibitions are not simply exhibits, but a platform through which we can speak to the whole world.”

Ambassador Wael El-Naggar added that "There's no better way to connect Egypt's rich culture and heritage with the world than through the the arts, and ‘Forever is Now’ is vital in bringing some of the most important artists in the world to our country."

At the press conference, Abdel Ghaffar also announced three other exhibits which will be held simultaneously this year for the first time, spreading from the Giza Plateau out into the city.

At the Egyptian Museum, the second edition of 'Formed by Dialogue' will run from November 5th - 14th, bridging heritage with design, fashion and jewellery. In Historic Cairo, the very first edition of 'Crafts Re-Imagined' will launch at Bait Al Suheimy on October 23rd and run until November 8th. Meanwhile, the sixth edition of the 'Cairo International Art District' (CIAD) will take place from October 11th to November 8th at three locations in Downtown Cairo: The Factory, Kodak Passage, and Access Art Space.
