Cairo International Film Festival to Host Archival Photography Exhibit
The exhibit will revisit the history of Egyptian cinema through the lens of film photographers Hussein and Mohamed Bakr.
The 45th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), set to run from November 15th to November 24th, will host an exhibition paying tribute to legendary film photographers Hussein Bakr and Mohamed Bakr. The exhibition will feature a curated selection from their archives, allowing CIFF to display and revisit some of Egyptian cinema’s most iconic sets for the first time.
Hussein Bakr became renowned for capturing over one thousand films throughout the span of his 60-year career. He later passed both the lens and archive to his son, Mohamed Bakr. Being a constant presence on film sets, the duo managed to document and witness the likes of filmmakers Salah Abou Seif, Khairy Beshara and Kamal El Sheikh.
