Everything You Need to Know About Art Dubai 2024

The 17th edition of opens to the public March 1st to the 3rd, taking place in its iconic home at Madinat Jumeirah. The fair will feature local and international perspectives across many artistic mediums from four different categories: Digital, Contemporary, Modern, and Bawwaba, the last of which showcases solo artists from the Global South. There will also be performances, talks, and workshops open to all ticket holders. One-day and three-day options are available at AED 100 and 180 respectively. These tickets also entitle visitors to a guided tour of the fair, providing detailed insights into highlighted exhibitions.
We’ve highlighted some of our favourite exhibitions at this year’s art fair, brought in by galleries across the globe who have been invited to showcase artwork completed in the past year specifically for Art Dubai.
Erma Gallery

Founded in 2010 by Mila Askarova, Gazelli Art House in London brings a fresh perspective to Mayfair, championing artists from all corners of the globe. In 2015, the gallery further expanded to support artists working in digital art through its online platform, GAZELL.iO.
Zawyeh Gallery

Zawyeh Gallery was founded in 2013 by Ziad Anani in Ramallah, Palestine, opening a second location at Alserkal Avenue in Dubai, UAE in March 2020. Zawyeh’s mission is to promote emerging and established Palestinian artists – from Palestine and the Diaspora – through various thematic exhibitions at home and abroad. Zawyeh believes in investing in creativity and artistic talents in Palestine as a way of resilience in the face of adversaries.

Gallery Espace has become one of the foremost arts spaces in New Delhi since its inception in 1989. Founder Renu Modi spearheaded the contemporary artistic space in India in the 90s, having worked with several generations of Indian artists starting with legendary modernist painter MF Husain. Since then, Gallery Espace continues to present fresh talent and support experimental contemporary practices, reflecting changing concerns and tastes.
Afriart Gallery

Founded in 2002 by Daudi Karungi, a trained artist who understands first-hand the difficulties faced by young African artists, Afriart Gallery has become a leading international contemporary art gallery currently representing artists living and working on the African continent. The gallery focuses on original forms of expression and dialogue with the public, running programmes that aim to foster the growth of young artists through mentorship, visibility and archiving.

Meem Gallery is a leading international presence in the management and promotion of modern and contemporary Arab, North African and Iranian art. Founded in 2007 by Sultan Sooud Al-Qassemi, Mishal Hamed Kanoo and Charles Pocock, the gallery runs an ambitious programme of solo and group exhibitions with a special focus on regional Modern Masters. The Meem Gallery also exhibits the work of innovative contemporary artists, such as Zhivago Duncan and Mahmoud Obaidi.
Anant Art Gallery

Anant Art Gallery has been one of the leading galleries in promoting contemporary South Asian art practices. Since its inception in the early 2000s, it has engaged with a cross-section of young and established artists, providing multiple venue exhibitions, residencies and art fair representations. Their vision is to promote various art forms and facilitate a new generation of art collectors and patrons through a meticulously curated platform.
Perve Galeria

Located in the historic centre of Lisbon, Perve Galeria presents exhibitions of modern and contemporary art, incorporating artists from various backgrounds and artistic languages, such as the visual arts, music, poetry, cinema, interactive multimedia, and performance. Since the late 1990s, Perve Galeria has been building a vast collection devoted to modern and contemporary art from the Portuguese-speaking countries. The collection aims to produce interactions and merge the gap between Africa, Middle East, South America and Asia.
