‘Feathers’ Director Omar El Zohairy Tapped for English-Language Film
Acclaimed filmmaker Omar El Zohairy has been chosen to direct ‘Mammals’, which is written by ‘Bimbo’ screenwriter Mohamed Adeeb.
Omar El Zohairy, the director of the award-winning film 'Feathers,' is set to embark on his second feature film, 'Mammals’. Written by Mohamed Adeeb, the English-language drama marks Adeeb's second project following his successful Egyptian series 'Bimbo' (2021).
Acclaimed as a surreal satire, 'Feathers' earned recognition after winning the Grand Prix and the FIPRESCI Award at the Cannes Critics' Week in 2021, as well as the Best Arab Narrative Film at the El Gouna Film Festival. Inspired by their personal relationships with their fathers, the upcoming collaboration between Zohairy and Adeeb explores a turbulent father-son dynamic influenced by modern-day capitalism.
Produced by French producer Juliette Lepoutr through her Still Moving shingle, which also worked on Zohairy's 'Feathers’, the cast of ‘Mammals’ has yet to be revealed.
