The second edition of the Hurghada Youth Cinema Festival offers events with established filmmakers.
The Hurghada Youth Cinema Festival has opened registration for young filmmakers to submit their entries for a range of categories, namely long and short films, student projects, and the Green Award for films promoting environmental conservation, from May 1st to July 15th.
The festival has partnered with the Higher Institute of Cinema to highlight the institute's participation in the student films competition and organizing special workshops for film industry professionals. Taking place from September 19th to the 25th, 2024, the festival will feature lectures by institute professors, as well as Egyptian cinema stars and filmmakers.
Hurghada Youth Cinema Festival will dedicate an annual program to showcase graduation projects of top directors from the institute who have contributed to the development of the film industry over its history. The festival will premiere a documentary film directed by Mohamed El Bassousi about the late artist Omar Sharif.
The events will offer youth audiences and filmmakers the opportunity to learn about the ideas of senior directors during their studies at the institute. Panel discussions and masterclasses with these directors will follow the screenings.
