“Stories of Place” Captures Egypt's Architectural Heritage in Photos
Across six halls, more than 300 photographs depicting Egypt’s architectural heritage and the interplay between people and place have gone on display at the Palace of the Arts.
At the Palace of the Arts at Cairo Opera House, the “Stories of Place” exhibition has just opened with the works of 153 photographers exploring Egypt’s urban and architectural heritage.
Presented through a collaboration between the National Organization for Urban Harmony and Cairo-based photography platform, Phlog, the exhibition’s six halls were curated from more than 7,000 submissions to the Ministry of Culture’s Turathi Competition.
What unites the photos on display is an eye for how people and place shape each other, reinforcing the primacy of heritage and its preservation in everyday life.
With a total prize pool of 150,000 Egyptian pounds, Turathi aims to raise awareness of Egyptian architectural heritage and its cultural value today. The exhibition is open to the public from April 23 to 25, from 1:00 - 9:00 PM.
