‘The Voice of Hind Rajab’ Nominated for Golden Globe

Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania’s docudrama ‘The Voice of Hind Rajab’ has just been nominated for Best Motion Picture, Non-English Language at the Golden Globes.
The film reconstructs the final hours of five-year-old Hind Rajab, a Palestinian child killed in Gaza in January 2024 after being trapped in a car under Israeli fire. What unfolds on screen is almost entirely confined to an emergency dispatch centre; actors portray the responders, but Hind’s own voice is heard in real audio recordings as medics desperately try, and fail, to reach her.
First revealed to audiences at the Venice Film Festival, the film earned a near-24-minute standing ovation and won the prestigious Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize, the festival’s second-highest honour. The film will screen in Egyptian theatres starting December 17th.
