ADIA Backs $140M Raise for US AI-Powered Firm Empower Semiconductor

Empower Semiconductor, a Silicon Valley-based power management company, has raised more than $140 million in Series D financing to accelerate the growth of its AI-powered solutions. The round was led by Fidelity Management & Research Company, Maverick Silicon, and CapitalG, with additional participation from Atreides Management, Socratic Partners, Walden Catalyst Ventures, and Knollwood. A wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) also joined as the key investor from the Middle East and North Africa. Founded in 2014 by Tim Phillips, Empower Semiconductor develops FinFast technology, designed to tackle power density challenges in AI, mobile, communications, and data centers. Its integrated voltage regulators are aimed at reducing the energy footprint and total cost of ownership of data centers, while delivering scalable power with high precision and signal integrity. The company said it expects its technology to transform the AI market by enabling gigawatts of energy savings and higher throughput across AI platforms globally. Its approach was described as addressing a critical bottleneck in modern AI computing with a platform that combines technical leadership and commercial momentum.
