Egyptian Deep Tech Healthcare Startup DilenyTech Acquired by US Firm

DilenyTech, a Cairo-based deep tech startup that specialises in AI-powered healthcare solutions, has been acquired by Astute Imaging, a subscription-based imaging service that provides physicians with 24/7 access to pre and post-surgery planning and follow-up tools.

Launched in 2018 by Dr. Ahmed Ehab Mahmoud, DilenyTech aims to improve the accuracy of breast cancer screening and diagnostic workflow through AI-based assistance. The startup provides solutions for medical imaging analysis, breast cancer risk assessment and structured reporting to top-tier international healthtech companies.

Towards the end of 2020, DilenyTech was awarded a patent for an AI-enabled image analysis tool, the third patent it possesses in the US, which will have no doubt attracted the attention of Astute Imaging, as it looks to to leverage AI to improve and expand its services and develop innovative solutions in the medical imaging domain.

“This strategic acquisition of DilenyTech will enable Astute Imaging to expedite the

development of an AI driven image-guided therapy platform and add more automation

to our imaging services and procedure planning solutions,” Wael Elseaidy, co-founder

and CEO of Astute Imaging, stasaidted. “Empowering our surgery planning and patient

follow-up imaging platforms with AI will help our customers and medical imaging

stakeholders to provide more patient centric proactive services.”

Elseaidy and co. have also stated their intent to to develop predictive models for

cardiovascular case-planning, while expanding into other areas such as women’s health

and cancer treatments. These models will offer better insights to companies about the enhancement of interventional devices for image guided procedure, particularly in the cardiovascular and cancer domains.

On the part of DilenyTech, they stand to have their innovative solutions applied to a number of different fields, which in turn can help them further develop their tools. “We have

applied our technologies successfully in the area of breast imaging and we look forward

to expanding our AI pipeline to other imaging areas such as thyroid, liver and

gynecology as well as cardiovascular 3D imaging and procedural planning,” said

Ahmed Ehab Mahmoud, who will be joining Astute Imaging’s founding team and manage the imaging operations. “We believe Astute Imaging will be a game changer for healthcare providers and device companies.”
