Elon Musk’s Tesla is Bringing the Las Vegas Loop to Dubai

Elon Musk and Dubai’s Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Omar Sultan Al Olama, have announced plans for the Dubai Loop, an underground transport network inspired by the Las Vegas Loop. The project, unveiled during the World Governments Summit 2025, will connect Dubai’s most densely populated areas through high-speed tunnels.

Tesla, in partnership with Dubai authorities, will oversee the construction of the underground tunnels.

“What's really useful about the tunnels is alleviating traffic and congested areas," Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, said during the announcement. “Now the challenge of going above ground or with any kind of flying object is that it tends to be very noisy and generate a lot of wind force… If you have bad weather, let's say there's a blizzard or a sandstorm, nobody can fly. So transport shuts down. On the other hand, none of these problems exist with underground travel.”

The Las Vegas Loop, which operates with 70 driverless vehicles, took two years to build. Dubai’s version is anticipated to be more expansive, potentially connecting airports, hotels and various commercial hubs.
