The World Championship for Fishing in 2028 will be hosted in El Gouna, featuring participants from 25 countries. Egypt was chosen as the new host of the 36th edition of the championship, after Spain’s withdrawal from hosting.
The announcement follows El Gouna's successful hosting of the first international fishing tournament in the Middle East under the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) in February, which saw participation from seven countries, including Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Switzerland, Scotland, Lebanon and England.
