21,000 Kilograms of Gold Discovered in Egypt's Sukari Mine in 2022
Gold mining company Centamin reported 5% increase in the Sukari mine’s gold yield this year.
With headquarters in the UK, Australia and Alexandria, Egypt, Centamin - a gold mining company focusing on the Arabian-Nubian area - has grown its mineral resource and reserve base at the Sukari gold mine for the second year in a row, solidifying its status as a Tier 1 gold mine.
The company recently reported that the Sukari’s proven probable reserves are around 170,000 kg, providing an additional 5% to this year's yield. Centamin has discovered 21,000 kg of gold in 2022. Centamin is still working to expand the Sukari mineral resource and reserve base and will see approximately 280,000 metres of drilling in 2023 dedicated to open-pit resource-to-reserve conversion at depth and underground exploration. Sukari is the largest and first modern gold mine in Egypt, as well as one of the world's largest producing mines. It has produced over 142,000 kg of gold since production began in 2009, and has a projected mine life of 14 years.
