35 Endangered Species Released in Prince Mohammed bin Salman Reserve
The National Center for Wildlife and the reserve’s development authority carried out the release as part of breeding and reintroduction programmes.
The National Center for Wildlife (NCW) and the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Royal Reserve Development Authority have released 35 endangered wildlife species into the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Royal Reserve as part of ongoing programmes to restore ecosystems and enhance biodiversity, Saudi authorities announced.
The released animals include 10 Arabian oryx, five ostriches and 20 houbara bustards, all native species that have previously faced population pressures. The programme is designed to reintroduce wildlife into suitable natural habitats and support ecological balance within the reserve.
Officials said the effort aligns with the centre’s long-term plans to protect native species and restore degraded ecosystems through breeding, rearing and reintroduction initiatives. These activities are part of broader national conservation strategies that aim to strengthen biodiversity, rebuild food chains and support eco-tourism development across protected areas in the Kingdom.
